Methoxetamine (also known as MXE, 3-MeO-2'-Oxo-PCE) is a dissociative hallucinogen substance of the arylcyclohexylamine class. It is structurally related to ketamine, PCE, and 3-MeO-PCP. MXE is an arylcyclohexylamine, it acts mainly as an NMDA receptor antagonist, similarly to other arylcyclohexylamines.
Methoxetamine acts as a non-competitive NMDA receptor antagonist and serotonin-reuptake inhibitor.
Methoxetamine has formal name: (R/S)-2-(3-Methoxyphenyl)-2-(ethylamino)cyclohexanone. The chemical formula for Methoxetamine is C15H21NO2 with a molecular weight of 247.33
Methoxetamine produces ketamine-like dissociative effects when administered. It has a longer duration of action than that of ketamine. Main effects of methoxetamine are hallucinations, depersonalization, dissociation of the physical body as well as antidepressant and recreational effects.
The toxicity and long-term health effects of recreational Methoxetamine use do not seem to have been studied in any scientific context and the exact toxic dosage is unknown.
